MElanie tells stories
Telling digital stories is pretty awesome.
For our collaboration project we look towards our journal for ideas. One of them said to trace a silhouette of your friend and then fill it with words. So then I thought this could be something really cool if we got a silhouette of a woman and have people describe her in one word just to see what we would get.
Then the idea progressed within the group to do two different female body types and one man. This way, the ways people are described based on their body can be compared. So we each took a silhouette and had people describe it just off the top of their head. We then took those words and filled the silhouette in with them. This was collaboration on the parts of the people who gave us the words. They were not completely unwitting because I did tell them all what I was doing with the word they gave me, but only after they had already given me the word. https://alliesmith96.wixsite.com/homepage/single-post/2017/02/09/BodyImage

She looks in the mirror and wonders is this is what everyone sees? When people look, do they really believe? She's nowhere near perfect this she knows already. She struggles getting changed; trying to keep her hands steady. No one really knows what troubles are within. For when she looks in a mirror all she she's is sin. A young man once told her she is a breathtaking woman. Little does he know, she only gets men with her bosom. She sits alone in the mornings after men take her for granted. Ripped clothes and pursed lips her shoulders seem slanted. Always wondering if there's more to life. Never feeling good enough to be that man's wife. Photo credit: Richard E. The first activity I chose to do from the Journal was where you are asked to create a class of your choice and also make a sylabus for the class. I went ahead and created a class titled "Social Media Marketing". This is a class I would find extremely useful and would lvoe to instruct some day. I want to be in this field and so creating the class would involve creating digital media so this was an easy activity to turn into digital media. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram would all be used in the course which are all forms of digitial media. Involved in this course would be instruction on how to make the best use of social media in order to market a business. There would be no text required which is one of my favorite things about this course I created quite honestly. Anyone interested in this field could make use of this course. The grading would all be on the quality and good use of social media to market and recover from any bad instances that may occur. Each form of social media used to market would be discussed and graded one at a time. Everyone would intereact with eahcother's media possibly creating issues to react to or throwing out ideas for their businesses. They would create fake businesses so that no business's media was being copied or confused with. This week my group had to create and image out of only body parts. It was pretty close to something out of the pocket scavenger with the idea of twisting things to create something else. The trunk was made of a thumb, the eyes are actually my fingernails, the body is a knee, the feet are pinky fingers, the tusks are the ends of nails, and the ears arepart of a hand. We had no clue what we were starting out with bu tI just happended to pick the thumb first. We really enjoyed doing this together and got to laugh a lot at what we were creating. Once it got started though, we had no trouble moving it along.
When the holidays come around it is easy to recognize. The lights go up, the trees go up, the leaves fal down, and people try to be nicer. In the pocket scavenger, there is a place where you can make your own alterations and so I took this picture when they started decorating campus and edited it the way I thought it looked most like how I picture Christmas ligths. I took it from an angle close up so it you can tell there are more in the distance but can also really see the ones closest to me. This is a special time of the year and with finals coming up quickly I thought the school deserved some recognition for trying to spread cheer in even small ways like this. Sunset: "The colors and light visible in the sky on an occasion of the sun's disappearance in the evening, considered as a view or spectacle". There are surprisingly a few definitions of the word sunset. It can also be used to define a low point in someone's life. The first definition though is what everyone pictures when they hear the word of course. The spectacle is the many colors when the lights joins with the sky in exactly the right spots. This happens here often especially here on campus because of the height of the mountain our school sits on top of, which makes it even easier to see. * It has always been thought that air pollution such as dust and aerosols cause the brilliant colors of sunsets. However clean air is the best ingredient for sunsets. So cities like New York and LA do not tend to be looked at for neither their clean air nor their sunsets. This is why cities in which cleaner air is present, such as Hawaii, are always known for their beautiful sunsets. After being in Hawaii once and LA I can confirm this fact. The sunsets in Honolulu are stopped and stared at while the ones in LA are more covered in smog than color. * Clouds also play a role in sunsets. Clouds must be high enough to reflect light that has not lost any color from passing through the boundary layer of the atmosphere. When the middle layered clouds take on a "bathed in red" effect, the clouds are allowing very little blue light to touch the ground. "Red sky at night; Sailor's delight". When lower clouds try to take on light, more blue is shown leaving little room for reds and oranges. Now thinking about this, the more crowded the clouds are the prettier the sunset is when no blue can escape. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005072867281
