MElanie tells stories
Telling digital stories is pretty awesome.
This week in our class we got to discuss some remixes of fairytales. The one we focused on was Little Red Riding Hood. There were two versions of this text we looked at, both of which were kind of dreary compared to the original. While this is different I believe that is what makes it interesting. When you have something that people know so well already and then put a twist on it, it catches attention. I also think this is why shows such as "Once Upon A Time" are so popular. They do the same thing with the twist and tweaks on original stories. Comparing and contrasting the two remade versions to the originals opened up a whole new world of possibilities for creating. They are prime examples of what can come about when you enter the unknown and step out of where you are comfortable.
Some differences we found were that in one of the stories the grandmother was the wolf. There is witchcraft involved in both of the remakes and Red is way more independent and strong compared to the original. The twists were intriguing and really made us think.
A single writing instrument such as a plain pencil can open up an entire new world for yourself or someone who reads what you write. I think that is a fairytale in itself.
